Roger Cole Workshop on Sunday, July 18th

Roger Cole will be teaching this workshop at Yoga Fitness in Campbell. The details of the workshop are not online, but, here is the information sent to the Yoga Fitness mailing list.

Arm Balances 10-12:30 PM
This class will teach you arm balances and inversions at your level. According to your ability, you will systematically practice preparatory asanas, "baby balances" and arm balances like Bakasana and variations. This class will also include instruction on going into arm balances from Sirsasana II (tripod headstand).

Floor Poses 2-4:30 PM
This class will teach you a series of rejuvenating yet challenging seated and reclining postures that focus primarily on the knees, hips, and spine.

The cost of the workshop is $75 for both classes and $45 for one. To register, prepayment will be necessary. Roger's classes at Yoga Fitness have been well received and have filled quickly. You may contact Jito Yumibe to register and make arrangements for payment.

Okay, this is Van talking again. I have not studied regularly with this man. However, I have participated in several of his workshops over the years. I have never been disappointed. His knowledge of anatomy and how he relates it to the poses is excellent.

Kofi Busia Intensive, June 23rd to 27th

Kofi Busia is teaching a 5-day intensive this June at the Reformation Studio in Campbell. Although I have not studied with Kofi recently, I was fortunate to take his Thursday morning classes on a regular basis when he used to teach at Yoga Fitness in Campbell. Besides his deep knowledge of Iyengar Yoga, he brings a special spiritual dimension to his classes.

No Yoga MeetUp on 5/20

It turns out there wasn't enough local interest to go forward with the planned meeting for this Thursday. However, we'll have another shot next month. I'll give people more notice for the next one.

Yoga Meetup in Santa Clara on 5/20

I apologize for the last minute notification, but, I just found out myself. There is an online service called MeetUp that at no cost facilitates informal gatherings of like-minded folks. Someone has initated a gathering of Yoga Buffs in Santa Clara for this Thursday evening at 8pm. It will be at a coffee shop on Stevens Creek Blvd near Lawrence Expressyway. Unless something comes up, I plan to be there at least for a little while myself. You will find the full information about the gathering and instructions on how to signup to participate here:

Summer 2004 Level 1 Sanskrit Intensive

Connie Habash is teaching this 5 week intensive at the Avalon Art & Yoga Center in Palo Alto. The training is from 12:30-3:30pm on five successive Saturday afternoons. The first date is Saturday, July 17th, and the last date is Saturday, August 14th. I have not studied personally with Connie, but, she is a current faculty member in Joyce Anue's teacher training program. I have studied extensively with Joyce and I graduated from her teacher training program back in May of 2002. Everyone on the faculty of the program back then was excellent and I have no reason to believe that Connie would be any different. In fact, I am planning to sign up for this intensive myself. I've always wanted to learn more about the Sanskrit language.
